The
Book of Formation says, “He crowned the letter Pei and created with it Venus in
the world and Thursday in the year and the left nostril in the soul, He crowned
the letter Vav and created with it Taurus in the world and Iyar in the year and
the left hand in the soul.”
The letters Pei and Vav control the month of Iyar, and the constellation of
Taurus.
Iyar is the second month after Nissan, and is completely under the influence of
the period known as the Counting of the Omer. When Moses took the Israelites out
of Egypt, they received freedom, liberty, and liberation without any effort. For
that reason, the Light of Passover disappeared; in order to give us the
opportunity to work and earn all that Light that we received for free.
This time [of work] is known as the Counting of the Omer. For seven weeks we
correct, day after day, a different Sfirah (luminous emanation), and if you
multiply seven Sfirot by seven weeks, we get 49 days of the Omer. These days
give us the opportunity to correct from the root any fault or negative action we
did, in this lifetime or other lifetimes. After 49 days we reach the holiday of
Shavuot – the same window in the cosmos on which we received the Torah. On this
holiday we reach a revelation of Light that brings us immortal life. Those 49
days are also called “days of Smallness,” and are infamous for their low energy.
That is why we do not make any decisions or actions, like buying a house,
signing contracts, opening new businesses, getting married etc. until this
period is over.
As the Israelites traveled in the desert, leaving the slavery of Egypt for
freedom, they saw with their own eyes the splitting of the Red Sea, and still
managed to complain and dream of returning to Egypt, despite the Manna that fell
from Heaven each day. They managed to bear a grudge against Moses, who returned
six hours late from receiving the Torah, and created a Golden Calf.
All of us today are from that generation – the Desert Generation, the generation
that was not happy to leave Egypt but was content with the garlic, the onions
and the meat, the generation seeking comfort life, replete with physical things,
not bothering with spirituality.
There is one especially positive day in the month of Iyar: Lag Baomer – the 33th
day of the 49 days of the Omer. This is the death anniversary of the great
Kabbalitst and author of the Zohar, Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai. On this day Rabbi
Shimon left the world, and by leaving the physical world he brought upon
humanity a great revelation of Light. This is the reason for our all-night Zohar
study, connecting to the special energy Rabbi Shimon revealed for us.
Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai lived in Israel in the 2nd century, at the time the
Romans ruled Israel. Rabbi Akiva, Rabbi Shimon’s teacher, with other scholars at
that time planed to rebel against the Romans. Their plan failed, and thousands
were killed. Rabbi Shimon and his son Elazar ran away and hid in a cave for 13
years. During those years of separation from the physical reality, Moses and
Elijah revealed to them the secrets of the universe. After 13 years Rabbi Shimon
and his son left the cave and started to teach eight scholars in a cave called
the Idra Rabba, located between Tsfat and Meron in the northern part of Israel.
The Zohar we have today is the result of this secrets revealed to Rabbi Shimon
by Moses and Elijah, written by Rabbi Abba the student of Rabbi Shimon.
Taurus, as an earth sign, is very attached to the physical world, the world of
the five senses. All that is interests the average Taurus is making money,
establishing his financial security, a big house, modern machinery and of course
money in the bank. All that is apparently giving financial-material security is
what the average Taurus is looking for.
Venus rules Taurus, and controls the energy of money, love and the arts. There
is no doubt that the typical Taurus loves money, possession, sensual pleasures,
food, sex and music. Many musicians and opera singers are Taurus, and they are
great cooks, tailors and fashion designers. Needless to say they excel in
banking, business, and real estate.
Taureans are very possessive, stubborn, and once seek a target, they will get to
it no matter what the obstacle. It is hard to sway them, and they seldom budge.
They love stability and determination, and don’t like to move without just
cause.
Taurus gets along well with water signs. Pisces, Cancer and Scorpio. Other earth
signs, Virgo and Capricorn, make good business partners.
When a Taurus elevates his spiritual level, and reaches the understanding that
matter does not exist, the idea of “mind over matter” takes over and wonderful
things can happen, moving him to a less physical movie with more elevated
spiritual and social meaning. Until then the Taurus experiences odd situations
of having money and losing money, watching the carpet being pulled from under
their feet in order to teach them the lesson of the illusion of the physical
world.
A big part of anyone's spiritual journey of transformation is to get to know
themselves for who they really are, and understand and accept the unique
combination of their personality and traits. Learning what your sign means can
give you an important and valuable insight as to what your biggest challenge is,
so that you can transform it and uncover your biggest gift to the world, which
is, simply put, the other side of the same coin.
Wearing a Sign Shield can significantly support you through this process - get
